ABOUT US

Turtle Rock opened its doors for business in March 2005. Owners and operators, Andy & Angela Faxon, along with their kids, remodeled the former dentist office from top to bottom, inside and out. Photos can be seen here. A coffee house was a new venture for us as we had remodeled houses as a side hobby. When the building came up for sale and opportunity came knocking on our door, we thought “wow, this would make a great location for a coffee house!” With the skills we had developed from previous remodels we set to work. A face lift was in store for the building which was built in 1966, with new walls, wiring, plumbing, flooring, lighting, etc. The most eye-catching change is the slate flooring which is inlaid with hickory and etched turtles as is the fireplace and front counter face.

During the warmer weather customers enjoy our covered patio with a slate look floor also etched with turtles as well as vines, dragonflies and lizards. We have spent many hours landscaping the patio and around the building, this past September (2006) we were much honored to receive Laramie’s Beautification Award.

Where did our name come from? At an altitude of 8000 ft., Vedauwoo (pronounced vee-da-voo) is a very unique collection of rock formations just east of Laramie that is popular for hiking, climbing and camping. A beautiful trail for walking or biking is named Turtle Rock. The photographs in Turtle Rock Coffee are from the Vedauwoo area. The photographer, Nancy Zenor, is our own Granny Z – who also makes many of our yummy desserts.

We are fortunate to have the greatest customers around! Turtle Rock can boast a diversified clientele from ages 0-93 years young, from all walks of life. We have tried to create an atmosphere that is inviting, relaxing and appealing to all.

Greeting you with a smile and a friendly hello we hope to make your day a little brighter. We look forward to visiting with you at Turtle Rock!
